Workshop
Decentralization can be an essential means to enhance the quality and accessibility of public services.
Hanns Seidel Foundation and Maat for Peace, Development and Human Rights therefore jointly organized a workshop on decentralization practices within the sectors of health, education as well as youth and sports.
26 local administration executives and experts from the corresponding ministries as well as executives from NGOs working in these three sectors were invited to attend the workshop.
In the first three sessions the current situation and difficulties of each sector were presented by an expert. Furthermore the possibilities of implementing a more decentralized local administration system in each sector and its advantages and disadvantages for offering good public services were discussed.
After attending the three sessions the participants were divided into working groups to discuss and prepare a recommendation paper for each of the three sectors that will be presented to decision makers in the responsible ministries and the media.
