Preserving Nature through Public Participation

12-14/11/2012, Port Said
Regional Workshop

With water resources declining and environmental pollution prevalent throughout the country, Egypt is in the need of strong efforts to preserve its natural resources and protect its nature.
The Nile Center of Port Said and Hanns Seidel Foundation therefore jointly organized a regional workshop to discuss the possibilities of preserving nature through public participation. 12 different Nile Centers participated in this workshop as well as representatives from ministries and NGOs working in the field of environment.
After several presentations on past and current water and environment programs by the Nile Centers, the participants worked together in teams to develop a participatory work plan between the Nile Centers and partner organizations for the next year with the aim of activating awareness raising on environmental issues.
