HSF India - Climate Change Initiative

The German Government has decided to cooperate in the field of Climate Change worldwide and particularly in Asia.

India has already started taking initiatives with regard to Climate Change through the National Action Plan on Climate Change, which was passed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in June, 2008. In the accomplishment of these objectives, India has to take appropriate steps towards the nine missions in order to face the climate change problems. These missions are increasingly finding their way in the daily politics of India. However till date the civil society especially the rural population has hardly been affected by any of the achievements on the political level.

The Hanns-Seidel-Stiftung with its office in New Delhi supports the Indian Civil Society in the proper implementation of these missions. The programs, which aim at sensitizing at least portions of Indian population in a sustainable manner on topics like Environment and Climate Change, should be strongly implemented from 2012.
