The foundation started its work in India in the year 2000. It follows the same principles, “service of democracy, peace and development” in its work. The work includes strengthening and utilising of human capacity while taking into account the social, political, cultural and economic conditions of the country. It focuses at helping people to help themselves.

HSF works with different partner organisations with similar objectives in different themes. The focus areas are political dialogue & security, training, women empowerment both socially and economically, civic education and corporate social responsibility. On the ground level, the partner organisations execute the mandate of the foundation. The activities include seminars, workshops & conferences, vocational training programmes including entrepreneurial & management development programmes and civic education programmes.

Additionally, the foundation’s office in India also organises international events with regard to Political Security as one of the main subjects, seminars on political conflicts, governance, civil society and human security both in India and abroad.
