On 2 December 2012, Shatil arranged with the support of Hanns Seidel Foundation for a panel discussion on the state budget in Tel Aviv. This panel discussion forms part of the ongoing activities of Shatil to inform a wider public about the composition and the allocation of public resources in Israel, foremost from a perspective of the social justice movement.

During the panel discussion, Amit Segal (Channel 2), Michal Shohat (Social Economic Academy) and Yigal Achtenberg (Emun HaTizbur) discussed with Shatil's Shay Cherpanov the effects of recent political developments on the forum's efforts to promote a social state budget for the years 2013-2014. It was also discussed, how socio-economic issues could be highlighted on the national agenda during the election campaigns.

Forum members then presented ways how to maximize the impact of the campaigning through targeting candidates, in-person advocacy, online campaigns, and public debates. It is understood that such a campaign will prompt a clear and public articulation of citizens’ views on socio-economic issues and the composition of the next state budget.

As a vehicle for future campaigning, Shatil has created an online forum and a Facebook presence to promote the advocacy towards a socially just budget.
