Our work in Israel and the Palestinian Territories
The Hanns Seidel Stiftung has been active in the region since 1979 in a broad field of activities, being represented in Jerusalem as well as in Jenin.
Strengthening the heterogeneous civil society in the Middle East, our key objective is to empower the wide diversity of socio-economic, ethnic and religious groups in the region. Furthermore, the improvement of the communication between citizens and the authorities defines the broad field of activities of our foundation.
With numerous accomplished projects the Hanns Seidel Stiftung can draw on a profound expertise by ensuring a professional and mutually beneficial exchange. Its support comes mainly in the form of technical assistance provided in cooperation with local non-governmental/ non-profit organizations. The nature of the facilitated activities varies from one-day meetings, conferences, educational trips and seminars to educational courses lasting several months.
Actual major programs of Hanns Seidel Foundation are:
- Aiming to self empowerment by supporting training courses designed for socio-political and educational development in general and for minority groups in particular
- Enhancing the competence and efficiency of Pilot-projects within the framework of local authorities
- Providing support for research and teaching
- Creating environmental awareness
- Promoting of Good Governance and Active citizenship
- Information exchange and training for decision makers and young leaders of the community
- Promoting an understanding between nations by means of international dialogue on a particular field
