The Hanns-Seidel-Foundation Korea worked with the Local Administration Research Institute (LARI) from the beginning. In 1987, both partners successfully started a village renewal project in Daedaeili in Gyeonggi province. Since then, South Korea completely changed, from a newly industrialized country to a successful and dynamic OECD member state. The introduction of local autonomy in Korea has been accompanied by both LARI and Hanns-Seidel-Foundation together and until today the question of efficient local autonomy is an important issue. LARI publishes a much-read (Korean language) journal, Local Government Studies. We are happy to announce the publication of the December 2012 issue of this journal.

In the December 2012 edition (No. 297) of the Korean journal ‘The Local Government Studies” the focus lies on ‘Concept transformation of local government administrative system reform and Urban Regeneration and the Compact City’.
