The first significant impact of the project will be a clear statement from the Islamic mass organizations towards the need and importance for democratization, human rights and de-radicalization within the Indonesian society. This statement should then be translated into an Islamic verdict (Fatwa), which expresses the significance of this objective. An Islamic Fatwa is binding for all the followers of the respective organizations and for the entire Islamic faith community. The project sustainability will be ensured by improving the capacities of the Islamic mass organizations to carry out similar programs on their own means. These activities should be supported by the establishment of a specific unit within the headquarters of NU (PBNU) focusing on the dissemination of civic education training programs on human rights, democracy and pluralism throughout Indonesia. The main goal of this unit should be to provide a platform for continuous efforts to strengthen the national state philosophy Pancasila which ensures equality between different religions and social and ethnic groups.
