Association of Southeast Asian Nations

Established in 1967 with the signing of the Bangkok Declaration by the five original member countries, ASEAN aims to promote the economic, social, and cultural development of the region, to safeguard the political and economic stability of the region, and to serve as a forum for the resolution of inter-regional differences.

HSF Indonesia supports the ASEAN Secretariat in the areas of environmental education, through a program called the ASEAN Environmental Education Action Plan (AEEAP), while HSF Singapore supports the area of trade liberalization. The ASEAN AEEAP program is concerned with developing and implementing an environmental ethic throughout society. The program provides a framework for catalyzing, coordinating, and organizing environmental education programs in ASEAN member countries, enhances the capabilities of environmental manpower, and initiates mass-based action in managing the environment through information dissemination, education and communication campaigns
