HSF strengthened partnership with Myanmar Women Entrepreneurs’ Association

MoU strengthens partnership of HSS and MWEA
Member of Parliament Dagmar Wöhrl, CSU with Wah Wah Htun, President of MWEA

Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF) and the Myanmar Women Entrepreneurs’ Association (MWEA) can look back to a long-term partnership. With the first activity dating to 1996, HSF has been supporting female entrepreneurs for more than 15 years now.

This partnership has now been strengthened considerably. During a jointly organized international conference on “Innovation and Women Entrepreneurship” on Feburary 8th, 2012, HSF and MWEA signed a Memorandum of Understanding. The MoU is an important step for both parties, enhancing their close cooperation and enabling them to expand the level of their activities.

Mrs Daw Wah Wah Htun, president of MWEA, pointed at the huge challenges that economy and society face in the country due to the ongoing opening processes of the Union of Myanmar. In this context she considers the MoU with HSF as an extremely significant achievement.

During his visit in Myanmar, the German Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development Niebel also met Mrs Wah Wah Htun. In their conversation, he valued the hard work of the founder and president of MWEA. He was impressed by her long-term commitment for the organization and the high number of more than 1600 female entrepreneurs organized in the association.
