Memorandum of Understanding signed with Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry

Mr. Axel Neubert, HSF representative Hanoi and Mr. Win Aung, President of UMFCCI exchanging congratulations after the signing ceremony

Having held their first joint workshop in UMFCCI in 1996, HSF and UMFCCI can look back on a long fruitful cooperation, which culminated today with the signing of a first Memorandum of Understanding, set to further strengthen their cooperation. Only recently, in December last year, a group of delegates from UMFCCI was invited to Germany, where they attended an international conference on Corporate Social Responsibility.

Mr. Win Aung, President of UMFCCI, recalled the need for more capacity building efforts, for the creation of a better business environment and increased knowledge sharing. These efforts should benefit all Myanmar people and particularly at the grassroots level and in rural areas to prevent the increasing rural exodus. These are the most valuable assets for Myanmar and as UMFCCI cannot provide for these conditions on its own, it needs its partners for this. Among other things, Mr. Aung would like to create a training center in Yangon for a better concentration of capacity building efforts in the future.

In Myanmar there are currently over 2 Million people without work. If Myanmar wants to have a peaceful transition, it needs to concentrate its efforts on giving these people a new perspective. With the signing of the MoU, HSF can now further intensify its cooperation with the UMFCCI, and help them in achieving these goals.
