The Assistant Secretary Geronimo L. Sy of the Department of Justice was interviewed by the Global News Network last 23 August 2012 during its program, “Ikons in Circles” hosted by Anna Marie Ablan. This interview is part of the integrated communications plan of the joint project of the Department of Justice, the German Federal Foreign Office and the Hanns Seidel Foundation/Germany (HSF) for the drafting of a “modern” criminal code for the Philippines. During the interview, “Concerns in the Justice System,” Assistant Secretary Sy discussed challenges faced by the Philippine justice system and shared updates on the status of the joint project. Ms. Ablan is the Consul Honoraire of the Republic of Belarus.

Designed to increase public awareness and participation through the use of radio, television, print and the Internet, the communications plan also includes radio and television guestings, as well as press briefings. The project held a roadshow-public forum in Davao end of August; the next roadshow-public forum will be held in Baguio middle of October. The project also has a line-up of focus group discussions scheduled this September; the next one will be on 14 September 2012.
