Our Work in the Philippines
A non-profit NGO based in Munich, Germany, the Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF) has been active in the Philippines since 1979, extending development assistance mainly in human resource development: from training and education, research and publications, to project development. The Foundation's activities in the country receive funding support mainly from the German government, through the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the European Union (EU), and the Free State of Bavaria.
HSF's operations in the Philippines have largely contributed to the following national objectives: strengthening democratic structures; promotion of human rights and rule of law; enhancing partnerships between government and the private sector; strengthening of civil society organizations; developing rural areas; and training professionals and skilled workers.
It also initiated programs towards Asian integration and ASEAN-EU cooperation, specifically in the areas of: Public Safety and Security, Environmental Management, Economic and Political Cooperation and Integration, and Trade and Investment.
Its intervention comes mainly in the form of technical assistance provided in cooperation with local partners. The project activities are based on long-term partnerships, at least over a three-year project cycle, implemented together with its partners. Its current project term covers the period 2011-2013 in support of its development intervention in the country.
