By signing a Memorandum of Understanding the German-Southeast Asian Center of Excellence for Public Policy and Good Governance (CPG) at the Law Faculty of Thammasat University Bangkok, represented by its Principal Coordinator Mr Henning Glaser and the Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF), represented by the Regional Representative for Thailand and Laos Mr. Karl-Peter Schoenfisch, sealed the cooperation between the two organizations on 3rd June 2011.

Purpose of the joint project is to promote the rule of law and civil society by capacity building activities in Laos and Thailand.

HSF and CPG jointly work to professionalize the judiciary on the local/sub regional level in the South and North of Thailand and Laos through the organization of seminars and workshops for the relevant target groups. The workshops will relate to day to day legal affairs and take regional differences into account. The aim is to improve ethics, local organization and the distribution of information on legal issues.

In addition to that, a Thailand related project on security and regulatory policy will be implemented and organized together with the CPG, which will include national and regional seminars and conferences, with participations by international experts. Central topics will be human rights protection in military and police operations and regional conflict prevention and mediation.
