Promoting Zerowaste Agriculture in Thailand
The Hanns Seidel Foundation, in cooperation with the Cooperative Promotion Department and the Livestock Development Department, has promoted bio-gas production from waste products originating from agricultural and livestock activities in Thailand.
Purpose of the program is to make maximum use of all residues (‘zero-waste’ agriculture), generate energy, reduce household expenditure and mitigate global warming.
The pilot project has been carried out in 2011 in coordination with dairy cooperatives in various provinces, i.e. Pattalung, Chumporn, Chiang Mai, Nakornpathum, Petchabun and Nakorn Ratchasima and has already shown promising results.
This successful program will be continued in Khon Kaen and other provinces in the near future.
