From 21 - 25 March 2012 the conference for former Asien HSS scholarship holders took place in Bangkok.

The alumni came from Indonesia, Philippines, China, Korea and Thailand. Dr. Michael Czepalla, Head of the department for foreign scholarships, opened the event.

On the first day there was a meeting where the alumni presented their associations and told something about their individual careers after they got supported by the HSS scholarship program. Furthermore there were also lectures about Thailand's political and economic situation by Mr. Karl-Peter Schönfisch, project leader of the HSS Bangkok-Office, and Dr. Ingo Winkelmann, deputy Ambassador and economic envoy of the German Embassy in Bangkok.

During the week the group visited the old temples of the former Kingdom Ayutthaya and the Nationalmuseum in Bangkok.

Last but not least they listened to and discussed during a lecture bei Mr. Henning Glaser, Head of the the German-Southeast Asian Center of Excellence for Public Policy and Good Governance (CPG) at Thammasat University, about constitutional issues in Thailand and Asia in general.
