On 29th November 2012 HCM Open University and University of Applied Science Munich organized a seminar in HCMC on Social Work in Vietnam with support of Hanns Seidel Foundation. The importance of social work was strongly emphasized, and around sixty participants discussed the publication “Several theories about social work in Vietnam and Germany” which was launched with HSF’s support.

The first section of the seminar was about social work in Vietnam and Germany. Its role and developing process was highlighted by lecturers from Germany, amongst others  Prof. Dr. Juliane Sagebiel from Munich, as well as from Vietnam. The second part dealt with the question of how social work might be enhanced and what shape the opportunities and challenges for social work might take.

The launching of the publication is of high relevance for social work in Vietnam, as so far, almost no textbooks for teaching the subject in Vietnam exist.
