The objective of Project Citizen is to enhance the youth’s understanding of the opportunities and duties as active members of society. It also aims to promote their development towards participative community affiliates. One group per school or community, all over Ghana, faces the challenge to identify and agree on a problem of their community and region. After extensive work and numerous meetings, the problem and alternative policies to solve it are outlined. The group then decides on a policy they recommend to solve the problem and describe a detailed action plan to implement it. At regional showcases, each group presents their project, following often-challenging questions by the jury. The regional showcase of the Central Region has been undertaken in the second week of November. Interesting and challenging issues such as road accidents, drug abuse, child abuse and gender inequality were among the problems covered. The winner of the Central Region is yet to be announced, who will participate in the national showcase.
