From November 12-18 2011, the vice president of the Hanns-Seidel-Foundation, Prof. Ursula MÄNNLE and the head of the West Africa Office, Mr. Klaus LIEPERT were received in the project countries in West Africa. The goal was to meet local staff and delegations and obtain further insight into the Hanns-Seidel-Foundation’s local project work. One day of the visit was spent in Ghana, where the German delegation attended two meetings. Firstly, they visited the Minister of Education to touch upon the National Commission for Civic Education’s (NCCE) Project Citizen, which the foundation supports. The second meeting was held with the honourable Chief Justice of Ghana. The participants of the meeting, also including the German Deputy Ambassador to Ghana, discussed issues pertaining to good governance and democracy and further deliberated on the proposed project of creating a platform for the Ghana Supreme Court and further constitutional courts of the West Africa region, to allow for an informational exchange of experts and a sharing of best practises.
