HSF organises Conference on Democracy and Security in West Africa

In 2003, the African Union initiated the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM), which fosters the exchange of views among different countries on democracy and governance, socio-economic development and business management. The Hanns Seidel Foundation has supported this process in West Africa from the beginning.

In order to promote awareness of the process in Europe, a conference was organised in Brussels at the end of November 2012. The Presidents of the APRM Commissions of Benin, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Mali, Niger and Togo exchanged views with European experts and officials on how the process could be intensified in the coming years.
