The Patronage Award for Political Journalism is granted to journalists in the up-and-coming generation by the Hanns Seidel Foundation's Academy for Politics and Current Events every two years. With this award, the Foundation would like to encourage students and doctoral candidates to take a critical look at a current topic that is relevant to politics and society and to exchange ideas with representatives of other scientific fields in a factual and interdisciplinary manner. The total prize money is 5,000 Euros, but it can be divided into four individual awards of 2,500 Euros, 1,500 Euros and two of 500 Euros each. The award winner's articles are published in the German journal POLITISCHE STUDIEN, which is published by the Hanns Seidel Foundation's Academy for Politics and Current Events.
