In the year 2006, the patronage division of the Hanns Seidel Foundation encouraged young journalists to hand in their publications on the topic "Dialog of Cultures" to the Hanns Seidel Foundation. The jury of the political foundation granted three awards and one special award to the participants; each was worth 2000 Euros.

The award winners elaborated the prerequisites, principles and boundaries of the topic "Dialog of Cultures" especially well, just as the requirements of the invitation to participate had called for. "The presented article is characterised by sophisticated language, discipline in the train of thought and factual content" was the explanation for the award that was stated in the certificates presented by the Assistant Chairman of the Foundation and State Minister (ret.), Prof. Ursula Männle. The awards are intended to encourage young authors to expand their journalistic talent and to support rationality in political disputes as well as individual expression. The award is granted every two years.
