The 2020 US elections have been referenced as the most important in the history of the United States, and the count has been closely followed around the world. In this special episode, we analyse what the close outcome means for Europe and the world with Dr. Daniel Twining, President of the International Republican Institute (IRI), and Ambassador Derek Mitchell, President of the National Democratic Institute (NDI). Featuring introductory remarks by Markus Ferber MEP, chair of the Hanns Seidel Foundation, on the importance of the United States for a stable world order, we will discuss the implications of the election for transatlantic relations and multilateralism, especially in the context of the pandemic, but also what the partisan divide means for US foreign policy.
